If
properly maintained, kamado ceramic
bbq grills can provide you with lifelong delicacies. Like ordinary
grills, ceramic smoker grills
require a little maintenance and should be deeply cleaned at least twice a year
based on usage.
what do you need
A
used dirty grill
charcoal
A
plastic brush
Buy
a vacuum cleaner or shovel to remove ashes
Steps to deep clean the grill
The
good thing about ceramic grills like Kamado is that they really look like a
self-cleaning oven. All you really need to do is heat it up, let it sit, and
then brush it again. This will not only help remove any burnt items, but it
will also sanitize the grill.
1.Light a fire at the
bottom of the grill
2.Place the heat deflector rack with the deflector on it. Add a grill
or other cooking surface
3.Close the lid and
adjust to 650º F or 700° F
4.Heating for 30
minutes to an hour
5.Open the vents and
cool completely (overnight is best)
6.Remove accessories,
grills and heat deflector racks
7.Remove charcoal
8.Carefully remove
the fire ring and fire box
9.Clear the remaining
ashes
10.Brush everything
with the bristles: inside the grill, ceramic parts, grill, etc.
11.Use a store vacuum
cleaner to remove the ashes, or use a spoon or damp cloth to remove it
12.Reassemble the
ceramic and place the deflector
13.Spray the grill
with cooking spray
14.If
necessary, replace the grill and wipe the outside of the grill
The
clean, shiny grill is ready for another season of delicious cooking. This
should be done at least twice a year, depending on how often you use Kamado
Grill. I also recommend that you check the straps on the grill during deep
cleaning, but we will cover it in another article. Now, take a step back and
admire the clean grill and wait for more barbecues and smoking!
